The DC 40 is mounted on a durable one-inch orange polyurethane coated collar strap, owners can combine the DC 40 with most standard e-collar receivers – eliminating the need to put two separate collars on a dog. LED charging light on the collar has been reconfigured to flash while charging, and glow solid when fully charged. 1 yr. mfg. warranty.

Attach Collar and Go When teamed up with the Astro™ 220, this system will have you hunting in no time. The DC 40, in combination with the Astro 220 pinpoints your dog’s position every 5 seconds. An innovative charging connection with a flashing LED-charging indicator lets you know when the battery is ready to go. You can extend the battery life of the DC 40 by changing the position transmit rate from 5 to 10, 30, or 120 seconds, enabling the DC 40 to work up to 17-48 hours in the field on one charge. The DC 40 has those updates and it also has a 2 minute (120 seconds) option. This longer update rate is designed for the dog owner that wants the longest possible battery life (48 hours) and is willing to sacrifice location detail to get it.

You will know if your dog is pointing, sitting, moving or treeing. Where your dog is. Where it’s been. How fast it’s moving and how far it’s gone.

New feature of the DC 40 is Collar Lock – an option that lets users create a four-digit PIN number that helps prevent others from seeing their dog’s whereabouts. That’s a feature that field trial judges will find useful to ensure that an Astro is used only as a recovery tool when a dog in competition becomes lost.

    Unit Dimensions: WxHxD: 3.25" x 1.75" x 1.5" (3.5 x 2.97 x 8.4 cm) Collar length: 12" (30.5 cm) to 20" (50.8 cm) adjustable collar Weight:

  • 5.1 oz (144.5 g) for transmitter and antenna
  • 8.0 oz (227.5 g) total weight Battery: Li-Ion rechargeable Battery life: 17 - 48 hours (user adjustable transmit rate of 5, 10, 30 or 120 seconds) Waterproof: yes (IPX7) High-sensitivity receiver: yes For best performance the DC 40 should always be allowed to get a good GPS fix before use. The best way to ensure this is to turn on the DC 40 and set it in an area with an open view of the sky away from any trees, buildings, or other obstructions. The DC 40 should always be allowed to get a GPS fix before being placed on the dog.

  • New blink code. The more GPS satellites that the DC 40 acquires, the better it will maintain a GPS fix even if a portion of the sky is obstructed. In order to help users know when their DC 40 has achieved a highly reliable GPS fix, the new software will activate a triple blink pattern on the tracking collar. It is best to let the DC 40 achieve a triple blink GPS fix for several minutes before placing it on the dog. The DC 40 will track even with a double blink GPS fix, but for best performance we recommend waiting for a triple blink GPS fix before placing the unit on the dog. After this procedure, the DC 40 should lock onto satellites within a couple of minutes. If users haven’t turned on their unit in a week or more, or have traveled at least 200 miles from their last use, they should repeat the above procedure for best results.
